How much do you charge for driving tuition?
We offer a range of different driving courses and each are affordable, but priced differently. For more information on our prices please click here.
How old do I have to be to start driving lessons?
You have to be 17 to be able to take driving lessons on the roads (16 if you are registered disabled). Our Beginner’s Driving Lessons will be ideal for you if you have recently turned 17.
When can I apply for my Provisional Driving Licence?
You can apply for your provisional driving licence up to 3 months before your 17th birthday (16 if you are registered disabled).
What do I need to bring with me on my first driving lesson?
On your first driving lesson (whether you have driven before or not) you need to bring both parts of your provisional driving licence and payment for the lesson. Please also bring along any glasses/contact lenses if you need to wear them, and sensible footwear.
Will I drive on my first driving lesson?
Yes. We always ensure that you have a drive of the car on your first lesson. We offer high quality driving lessons at G-Drive. For more information click here.
Can I learn to drive an Automatic car at G-Drive Grimsby Driving School?
We offer Automatic driving tuition to enable you to learn to drive quickly. This is suited to people who struggle with a manual transmission. For more information please click here.
When can I have my first driving lesson?
You can take your first driving lesson as soon as you reach the required age and have a valid provisional driving licence. If you have little to no driving experience our Beginner’s Driving Lessons are the perfect course for you.
How long are your driving lessons?
Driving lessons can be 1 hour, 1.5 hours or 2 hours — it’s entirely up to you. We can provide even longer driving lessons, although these would be more suited to an Intensive Driving Course.
How do I pay for my driving lessons?
You can pay for your driving lessons by cash to your driving instructor. Alternatively you could make a bank transfer to our business account. Contact us for more details.
How many driving lessons will I need?
On average the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency recommends around 45 hours of driving lessons with a driving instructor, as well as additional private practice. This is, however, an average and you may well require fewer lessons than this or even a few more to meet the required driving test standard. There are various factors that come into this, mainly how frequently you take driving lessons as the longer gaps there are between driving lessons, the longer it will take you. We have a range of different lessons you can choose from to ensure you get what’s right for you.
Can I start taking driving lessons before I do my theory test?
Yes, as long as you have a valid UK provisional driving licence, then you can take driving lessons anytime from your 17th birthday. You can find out more about the theory test here.
Will I have the same driving instructor throughout my lessons?
Yes, we aim to provide consistency throughout your driving lessons. We would only change your driving instructor if either you asked us to or your driving instructor had a long term illness. You can learn a bit more about our instructors here.
Do I use my driving instructor’s car for my driving test?
Yes, you would use your driving instructor’s car for the test and he/she will do a driving lesson immediately before your test. Your driving instructor will accompany you to the test centre and take you home afterwards. Find out more about what will happen on the day of your test by clicking here.
What if I need to cancel or re-arrange a driving lesson that has been booked?
If you need to change or cancel a driving lesson that has already been booked, please contact your driving instructor. Please try your best to provide us with at least 24 hours notice.
Once I pass my driving theory test, how long is it valid for?
Your driving theory test is valid for 2 years from the date you pass it. If you haven’t booked yours yet, you can do so here.
Can you book my practical driving test for me?
Yes, as long as you have already passed your driving theory test we will be happy to book driving tests for our pupils. For more information, or book the test yourself, please click here.
When I pay for my test does this cover the charges for your car?
No, you will need to pay for the driving lesson before your driving test and for hire of the car for your driving test itself. Find out what will happen on the day of your test.
Is there anything I can do to help with the nerves?
You can try different breathing techniques to help combat nerves, there are also a number of herbal remedies which can help calm nerves (please read instructions carefully). There are numerous ways you can prepare for the practical test. If you find that these are not helping then you may need to speak to a medical professional.
What if the DVSA cancel my driving test?
Another driving test will be booked for you at the earliest available date. The new driving test details will be sent to the email address provided when you booked the original driving test (or sent by post for phone bookings).
If I fail my driving test how long do I have to wait before I can book the driving test again?
You can re-book the driving test straight away, however you are not able to re-take a driving test within 10 days of a failure. Make sure you don’t fail the show me – tell me section with our advice.
Can you get points on a provisional driving licence?
Yes, you are the person responsible for the vehicle. However at G-Drive Grimsby Driving School we make sure that all of our cars meet the relevant legal requirements, also all of our driving instructors ensure that you follow all the rules of the road. Our successful pupils happily testify to our experience and abilities.
